MarJ: The flower discovered in the Twinsmatic Atlas

On April 3rd, the former duo Twinsmatic, who has since become solo, released their new project entitled Atlas, five years after the Nowhere EP. Presented as an imaginary journey defying the very real restrictions of confinement, the project has the stature of a real album and indeed revealed some nice surprises. A little spotlight on one of them. Having become over the years a reference in French beatmaking thanks to successful collaborations with Booba, Damso, or Ateyaba (formerly Joke), to name a few, Twinsmatic naturally focused and focused on the instrumental side of the production of a rap track for Atlas.

Beat first

JustFocus told you about it at the release of Atlas : in the same vein as the recent nuggets of Ikaz Boy or the excellent Myth Sizer, Twinsmatic has placed consistency at the center of its concerns. The ingenious transitions that intertwine between the thirteen tracks of Atlas jump immediately to the ears. Each instrument begins and blends into the track before, with such fluidity that it feels like listening… A long production of 43 minutes. It's impeccable and it's Atlas' signature. There is level. In fact, the immersion is total. The atmosphere of this long-term musical production oscillates between massive, almost dark trap beats or cloudy, vaporous and ethereal atmospheres. Finally, if you had to expect it from a beatmaker, the mix is no less exceptional. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9mLESBk_6w More than a month after its release, we have not forgotten the guests present on the project. What a guestlist ! It includes, in bulk, Ash Kidd twice, Dinos, SCH, 13 Block, Koba La D, Box, Slimka, Mister V, Dosseh, and above all… MarJ. The latter performs the first title in English, IBTU, as well as the track RAISON, in French this time. If some names make up the beautiful world of rapgaming, that of the young artist is part, with Box, of the novice artists of the project.

The Atlas Flower

With a particular style, a voice reminiscent of Shay and a Damso-like flow, both chiseled and numb, MarJ does not go unnoticed. And that's good, since that's not its purpose. On May 20, the artist unveiled his first official clipped track on his YouTube channel, entitled Bouquet and logically produced by Twinsmatic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEjWI1_ii5k&feature=emb_logo We discover a soothing aesthetic, with pretty colors that accompany the artist. Feet (J's, especially) in the water by the sea, MarJ is nonchalant and melancholic. You could almost hear the breaking waves. MarJ's soft and calm voice unfolds a sentimental text, evoking a priori a separation. The artist seems to contemplate his story at first light in the morning… MarJ hammers its heady chorus on a nebulous and padded cloud instrument. Clearly, the sensation of curling up in cotton. Signed to Twinsmatic's label, TSC Music, MarJ is a promising neophyte. If it is still little exposed, we advise you to wait for it at the turn of its networks. Recognition will not be long in coming… His quality appearances on Atlas are indeed a good springboard to go solo and Bouquet is proof of that. Spring is here: all you have to do is watch for the MarJ bud to hatch.
