Actor Henry Cavill is expected to reprise the role of Superman as he has already done several times. According to Variety, he is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to appear in one of the future DC Comics films.

Sources have reportedly confirmed to Variety that British actor Henry Cavill will return as Clark Kent in an upcoming DC movie. Cavill had already played this role multiple times. The first time he donned the cape of the hero Superman was for Zack Snyder's film Man of Steel in 2013. He then starred in Batman V Superman from the same director in 2016 and finally in Justice League in 2017. The actor is also famous for his appearance in the latest Mission Impossible as well as in the Netflix series The Witcher. 
In a Mens's Health article last November, Cavill reportedly announced that he had not given up on the role of Superman.
"The cape is still in the closet. […] Ihave not given up this role. There's still a lot to give for Superman. A lot of stories to do. A lot of real depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to mirror the comics. That's important to me. There's a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: you will see. "
Variety believes that Warner Bros. is negotiating with Cavill for a film other than the future Snyder Cut. It would rather be a cameo (an appearance in a film). But for which feature film?
Superman, yes, but in which film(s)?
For the moment, it is probably not Man of Steel 2 which is not in development. This is also not possible for the next Wonder Woman 1984 movie since it is scheduled for August 2020. 
James Gunn's The Suicide Squad has finished filming, so that also seems unlikely. The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, is in its own universe, separate from that of the DCEU. Again: unlikely. By elimination there are still a few films in which he could still appear. According to Screenrant, it could be Black Adam. The release is scheduled for December 22, 2021. The lead role is played by Dwayne Johnson. He has already been shown as Shazam's enemy in the film of the same name. In the comics Superman and Shazam fight him together many times. A possibility that seems quite plausible. Another idea would be for the next The Flash with Ezra Miller. Part of the original DC Extended Universe plan, The Flash has had many twists and turns over the years. It has been pushed back several times, with a current release date set for June 3, 2022. The film is set to adapt the Flashpoint, when Barry Allen goes back in time to save his mother's life, it completely changes the current timeline. This allows the films to include many DC characters. A possibility, then. Shazam 2 could also be a possibility given that Superman (without Henry Cavill) briefly appeared in the first installment in 2018. The release is scheduled for November 4, 2022. Same for Aquaman 2 expected on December 16, 2022.
