Warner had to resign itself to it: the logo of Christopher Nolan's next film was changed. Indeed, Tenet Components, a brand of bicycle spare parts, pointed out the disturbing resemblance between the two visuals. Tenet the film will then have modified its own between the two trailers. Last December , Tenet Components commented on this after the release of the first trailer for the new feature film from the director of Inception :
"No, despite the striking similarities, we are not making a film with Christopher Nolan. Maybe it was a coincidence, or maybe Nolan was inspired by our brand; In any case, this obvious negligence is frustrating to say the least. Thank you to everyone who supported Tenet (the bike brand). When we realized this, our biggest fear was that our peers would think that WE had stolen Nolan's logo, when in fact we had trademarked it long before the film was announced."
The instagram post in question. Warner, then reacted following this message. Nolan himself wrote an email to the biker:
"Dear Tyler [the bike brand representative], Warner just showed me your company logo. So I wanted to contact you directly to reassure you that the logo design is not inspired by yours. I know this because I made it myself. (…) I thought I had achieved something unique – but you were clearly driven by the same creative impulse as me. (…) Do not hesitate to quote me to put an end to this misunderstanding. I like our logo so I hope it won't be necessary, but if you wish, I can stop using it knowing yours was made public first."
Finally, the brand wanted to thank the director for his time. But she still asked that the film change its logo. Fearing a bad image and plagiaristic brand reputation. Tenet , which will normally be released in July 2020 in our French cinemas, will have agreed to change its logo during promotion (see photo). Not trivial and frankly very nice gesture of the studio and Chris Nolan.
