The new film in the Matrix 4 saga had to stop filming because of the coronavirus pandemic. However, news of the film directed by Lana Wachowski has been leaked!
Matrix 4: a highly anticipated sequel
The science fiction film could not finish shooting which was interrupted with the lockdown. However, according to Variety, the cast has signed an eight-week contract extension. This would allow them not to resume production until July 6. It would therefore potentially be the date of resumption of filming, if the situation allows it! Four weeks of filming had begun. Some scenes were filmed in San Francisco, and then the crew moved to Berlin. Filming should therefore resume in the German capital. Regarding the film, the plot remains unknown. In terms of casting, a lot of information has been disclosed. The two main actors of the original film Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) and Keanu Reeves (Neo) will be present. The latter also said that the scenario is very ambitious. For Laurence Fishburne, who originally played Morpheus, he will not return in this role. On the other hand, Jada Pinkett-Smith will play Niobe again and Lambert Wilson will also be present again. Actors not appearing in the first three films will appear. Parmi them, we find Neil Patrick Harris or Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The release date is currently set for May 19, 2021. Hoping that no delay will take place!
Lana Wachowski collaborates with Chad Stahelski
Lana Wachowski and her sister Lilly, had written and directed together the first three films of this saga. Only Lana will work on the fourth. And surprises seem to await us for the future. 17 years after the release of Matrix Revolutions, Chad Stahelski has announced that he will once again be Keanu Reeves' stuntman. Stahelski shares a little more information on Holywood Reporter about her collaboration with Wachowski and how she works:
"She comes in and says, 'This is the character. That is what is happening. That is the conflict. That's where I need him to convey an emotion." He's one of those great people who's going to come up with something and when we say, "Okay, we can do this." she said, "Oh my God, that's great. I haven't thought about it, but what if we took this and did that with it?" "
He continues on the subject of the film:
"If you love the Matrix trilogy, you're going to love what it does because it's brilliant and fun and understands what fans want."
