The official trailer of the series Raised by Wolves directed by Ridley Scott for HBO Max is out!
A new series that will delight science fiction fans
Cult director and producer Ridley Scott embarks on the production of a science fiction series. Ridley Scott gained fame by producing the films Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Thelma and Louise (1991), Gladiator (2000) and Alone on Mars (2015). If the artist has had more limited successes as with Legend (1985) and Prometheus (2012), he remains one of the most famous and acclaimed directors/producers of the last forty years. This isn't the first time he's headed to television. He produced the 1984 commercial and partly directed the Z-Cars series. But it is more on the big screen that it has proven itself.
At 82 years old, Ridley Scott has not said his last word and takes part in the series Raised by Wolves. The series, created by Aaron Guzikowski, will be available on HBO Max starting September 3, 2020. Ridley Scott will direct the first 2 episodes. The series will have 10 episodes of 45 minutes. We will find the series in France on Warner TV with a release date still uncertain.
In the official description, we can read that "Raised by Wolves centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the fledgling colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, androids are learning that controlling humans' beliefs is a treacherous and difficult task.
The cast includes Travis Fimmel who plays Ragnak in Vikings as well as Abubakar Salim, Amanda Collin, Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, Felix Jamieson, Jordan Loughran, Ethan Hazzard, Matias Varela, Aasiya Shah and Ivy Wong.
A trailer that reveals the full potential of Raised by Wolves
HBO Max released the official trailer on its youtube channel on August 5, 2020. In this video, the protagonists evolve in a post-apocalyptic setting, very dark and futuristic. First of all, we see desert landscapes, destroyed by "a great war". An android (played by Amanda Collin) was programmed to protect the children and "start all over again". She then tells the children the story of the three little pigs. This children's tale serves as a metaphor to announce the arrival of the big bad wolf (Travis Fimmel).
The aesthetics are extremely worked with science fiction shots (robots, spaceships). We also find violent sequences (fights, bloodied character) and a mysterious atmosphere (engraving on the ground, babies in jars). In view of the trailer and the pitch announced by HBO, the series will mix religious, philosophical and scientific questions. These themes and the aesthetics of this series resemble Ridley Scott's filmography with Alien, Blade Runner and Prometheus.
With a plot full of action and special effects, Raised by Wolves is one of the series to follow absolutely in September. With Ridley Scott as director, we can expect a great show.
