After learning more about Rue (Zendaya) in "Trouble Don't Last Always", it is now Jules (Hunter Schafer) who is interested in "F*ck Anyone Who's Not A Sea Blob".

Just like "Trouble Don't Last Always," Jules' episode is captivating and emotional from the start. With a soundtrack, as always, impeccable, including "Lo Vas a Olvidar" by Billie Eillish and Rosalía, this episode makes Jules' emotion even more raw.

We find the latter during a therapy session that gives the audience Jules' perspective on the entire first season. She first analyzes her own gender performance and femininity and announces to her therapist that she is thinking about stopping her hormones.

Jules: A dive into the heart of his feelings

She also reveals her feelings for Rue, saying that she feels guilty for leaving her that night at the train station. That's when she opens up about feeling frustrated with Rue's addiction, which is an extreme pressure for her, as her mother has experienced substance abuse problems similar to Rue's. So we understand the origin of her anger and the fact that things are all the more difficult for her.

She then explains that real life is still disappointing. This brings us to his messages with ShyGuy118, in other words Nate (Jacob Elordi). Before she knew who he was, Jules felt she could be more vulnerable and open with people online. This, combined with the ease with which she falls in love, allows us to better understand her character, especially when she says, "Half of every relationship is in my head." It is at this moment that we detect his lack of self-confidence and his doubts about Rue's real feelings.

"How is it possible that Rue loved me as much as I loved her?"

"The question is: why do you think it's impossible?"

While this episode helps us understand Jules better, he also prepares for Season 2 with a brief but important reunion with Rue visiting him for the first time since Jules ran away at the end of Season 1. It's a fleeting moment that leaves them both in tears, but puts the duo on track to rebuild their relationship in future episodes.
