During a press conference, the CEO of WarnerMedia stated that he was considering adapting the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on the big screen.

Warner Studios doesn't seem ready to give up on the Harry Potter franchise. Thus, after 8 films, 3 spin-offs dedicated to Fantastic Beasts (the last part of which is announced in theaters for July 13, 2022), a play and a series in preparation, Warner would consider this time to adapt the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child into a feature film.
This is indeed what Jason Kilar, CEO of WarnerMedia, announced during an investor conference:
"There's this little thing called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises. And we're incredibly grateful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling. So I would say there's a lot of fun and potential there too."
The latter has not given more details, we are able to think that this statement confirms the information of last January according to which Warner Bros. and HBO Max are reportedly developing a television series dedicated to the famous British wizard.
On the big screen, The Hollywood Reporter informs us that the studio would be developing new films based on the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (also available in book). We call you back (if necessary…) that the story, divided into 4 acts, takes place 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and follows the trajectories of Harry's children, Ron, Hermione and Draco Malfoy.
This announcement was made by Jason Kilar while he was talking about the creative future of the studio. No other information has been disclosed but the rumor of a film adaptation of the play had already circulated in 2016.
Afterward, Kilar was asked how WarnerMedia foresees the future of theaters post-pandemic. Warner's CEO said he agreed with Disney CEO Bob Chapek. The latter said last Tuesday that he foresees shorter release windows between theatrical releases and streaming movies: "With recent events, I tend to agree with Bob Chapek when he says it's hard to imagine coming back in 2015. " Kilar went on to add that there is currently a consensus in the entertainment industry to move forward to expand broadcast options.
This rumor could well put a smile on the faces of all Potterheads (that we are). We can't wait to see the outcome of such a project! To make you wait, we offer you a compilation of the ten most incredible moments of the Harry Potter saga:
