Grand Paris: interview with actor William Lebghil and director Martin Jauvat

This Wednesday, March 29 has just been released in Grand Paris cinemas, the first feature film by filmmaker Martin Jauvat. On the occasion of the release of his film, we had the chance to meet him, as well as one of his actors: William Lebghil. Interview to discover at the end of the article.

What is Grand Paris?

After directing a few short films such as Le Sang de la Veine and Paris Express (which is the short version of Grand Paris), the young filmmaker Martin Jauvat switched to long format with Grand Paris. Led by Mahamadou Sangaré, William Lebghil and Sébastien Chassagne, Grand Paris tells the story of two teenage commuters: Renard and Leslie. The two friends, who love to spend their days strolling around, come across a mysterious artifact on one of the construction sites of Greater Paris. They then decide to investigate the origin of this strange talisman. On the occasion of the release of Grand Paris, we had the chance to meet the young director Martin Jauvat, who also plays Renard in his film; but also the actor William Lebghil, who plays Amin, a driver like no other.

Who are Martin Jauvat and William Lebghil?

Born in 1995, Martin Jauvat did not go to film school. However, he is passionate very early for the seventh art. He began his career directing short films such as Le Sang de la Veine and Paris Express. In 2021, he decided to take the plunge and embarked on the direction of his first feature film: Grand Paris. In front of his camera, he hires the young Mahamadou Sangaré, whom we have already met in Le Monde est à toi or L'Horizon. He also took on more famous secondary actors such as William Lebghil and Sébastien Chassagne. Martin Jauvat met William Lebghil during the filming of Yves, where he was a street code consultant, and the two men remained friends. grand paris Grand Paris: interview with actor William Lebghil and director Martin Jauvat William Lebghil was born in 1990. He began his film career in the early 2010s. It is his role as Slim in the series Soda that gives him more notoriety. Subsequently, his film career took off quickly thanks to influential comedies such as Les Souvenirs (2014), Les Combattants (2014), Jacky au Royaume des Filles (2014), Les Nouvelles Aventures d'Aladin (2015) and Le Sens de la Fête (2017). Recently, in addition to Grand Paris, he starred in Tout fou le camp (2022) and will soon be seen in Les Complices, in theaters on April 12.
