Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the second original series signed Marvel, launches this Friday, March 19 on Disney +. After WandaVision, it's the turn of Sam Wilson aka Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) to be in the spotlight! Falcon and the Winter Soldier follows the daily life of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, two superheroes of the Marvel universe, and whose story is linked to that of Captain America. The series takes place a few months after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where we could see the heroes get rid of Thanos and bring back all the missing people during the famous "snap" of Infinity War. Thus, in a world where humanity is trying to rebuild itself, Sam Wilson must balance his responsibilities as a hero, his role as a brother and ensure the legacy of Captain America who has retired. For his part, Bucky Barnes tries to get rid of his demons by confronting his past and especially the time when he was under the control of HYDRA. This Marvel mini-series consists of 6 episodes of 40 to 50 minutes each available on Disney+. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWBsDaFWyTE
The double life of Falcon
A thrilling and promising first action scene
From the beginning of the episode, the series offers us an impressive action scene worthy of Marvel movies, with an air of James Bond or Mission Impossible. Commissioned by the American secret services, Falcon aims to recover a soldier captured by a French enemy force between Tunisia and Libya. The flying hero offers us a dizzying aerial chase. Twirling in the air, he enters and exits planes in free fall, confronts armed soldiers and dodges homing missiles. A first scene of astonishing and promising action for the future!
Financial problems and family inheritance
Falcon and the Winter Soldier also offers us much more personal passages and anchored in reality and in particular a reality after the "blip". Sam Wilson tries to help his sister in great financial difficulty but he struggles to obtain financial loans despite his status as a hero and risks losing his family inheritance. This more personal and reality-based side has yet to be exploited too little in the MCU films and promises to be interesting.
Bucky at the shrink
Not yet reunited with Falcon in this first episode, Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier fights with his own demons. Since getting rid of HYDRA's mind control, he has been trying to lead a normal life and fix the mistakes he made in the past. Closely monitored by a psychologist, one of the goals of her therapy is to apologize to her former victims and victims' families. Some images show us that he advances, in his own very personal way, in this work on himself. But he fails to reveal to the old man with whom he spends his time that he is responsible for the death of his son. The series will therefore address these questions of responsibility, guilt and resilience. Themes already very present in the Captain America movies.
A first episode to install the plot
A terrorist group
The first episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier lays the groundwork for the main plot: a group organized via an app wreaks havoc on the world. It should be noted that the leader of this organization is endowed with superhuman strength. And for now, only Falcon and his partner Torres are aware of this threat.
What legacy for Captain America?
At the same time, Sam Wilson, who was entrusted with the shield of Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame, is invested with a mission, that of managing the legacy of the mythical patriot. The very humble Falcon decides to give the shield to the American nation and therefore refuses to take over. But the American authorities have a completely different vision of things: a new Captain America is born at the end of the episode. A surprise for both the viewer and Falcon, for whom this decision seems to be completely opposite to his vision for the hero's legacy. Falcon and the Winter Soldier is in line with what the MCU already offered us, unlike WandaVision which has decided to offer us an ambitious rereading of the Marvel universe. This first episode has chosen a sweet introduction, so the plot will be unfolded over the episodes. But on the action side, fans will not be disappointed because the series promises to be rich! Moreover, this first episode, built in parallel, shows us the daily life of two heroes, whose meeting promises to be fabulous, touching and surely full of humanity. Marvel has decided to spoil its fans this year, first with WandaVision, today with Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and if you have not hooked it will always remain the series Loki, Thor's brother, which will be released on June 11, to seduce you!
