If the fighting promises to be much more violent, with bloody fatalities at the key, the story remains the same. If the hero, Cole Young (Lewis Tan) was created for the occasion, some iconic characters will be there: Kung Lao (Max Huang), Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Jax (Mehcad Brooks), Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), Liu Kang (Ludi Lin) or Kano (Josh Lawson). Not to mention Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada) and Sub-Zero, whose personal story should serve as a common thread for the film.
