Finally a future
Since the return of the parody universe of Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim, it was still missing a new volume of Twilight, the series dedicated to the end of the Dungeon. With the Demon Slayers, this deficiency is finally fixed. This twelfth volume is the direct continuation of the previous one released in 2014. The planet Terra Amata has been reconstructed and the Dark Entity crushed. However, the rabbit Marvin Rouge and the cat Zakûtu must always face multiple opponents including simple animals. These attacks at every turn are a real scourge on their daily lives. Especially since these attacks are unpredictable and mysterious. These creatures seem to have only one goal: to kill the young rabbit but the duo does not know why until they understand that these opponents are possessed. But who can blame them so much? This new cycle is a return to Marvin's origins because it seems that we will finally discover why this rabbit is red. 
This return of the series is also that of the trio of creators. The action is more present here with an epic fight at the end of the volume. Obion returns to his brushes. We find his drawing quite raw but also all in roundness. Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim always write history together while mocking heroic quests with delight. However, we also smile very often thanks to the strength of the main characters: Marvin and Zakûtu. If they sleep well together, each regularly valves the other. Marvin the vain is often put in his place by Zakûtu. The latter very free does not hesitate to go elsewhere which does not bother Marvin.
A Japanese Dungeon
This part of Dungeon is very inspired by sword movies. The sets clearly resemble medieval Japan. The theme of honor and duty is present. But, as always, Dungeon goes out of the codes by humor. Marvin prefers a married life to a quest. The devil does not seem very good at choosing his possessed who are only children and an old lady. Apart from Zakûtu, the characters are often clumsy and plunge themselves into perilous situations.
A Feminist Dungeon
The cat Zakûtu is more emancipated than most female characters in Japanese films. This volume also seeks to get out of the predominance of male heroes. Zakûtu saved the world but no one knows about it while she is visibly the strongest. Worse, everyone thinks it's only thanks to Marvin Rouge. Young people come to the couple to get help against a demon. But while Marvin ignores them, they refuse to expose their problems to Zakūtu. Dungeon Twilight is the negative of the main series. Marvin is recognized by all for his fighting skills. Her sidekick, far from negligible, is an independent woman and struggles with misogyny. The return of Twilight Dungeon is a very good idea. The alliance between action and humor is just as successful as in the other volumes of the series. The return of the duo Marvin and Zakûtu still works well. For neophytes, this complete story quite close to the classics of Franco-Belgian is a perfect gateway for new readers to enter the Dungeon.
