We presented you a few weeks ago the first episodes of season 1 of The Way of the Apron, available on Netflix. Recently, the second part of the anime was put online, to our delight. The Way of the Apron

"After retiring from business, Tatsu, a yakuza known as "the Immortal Dragon", resurfaces with his legendary ferocity, as the perfect stay-at-home husband! »

Episodes as funny as ever!

The Way of the Apron It is with joy that we found Tatsu, our favorite housewife! The episodes are always made up of small sketches put one after the other. And the latter are in the same line as the first part, comic situation at the rendezvous. Indeed, our former Yakuza always finds himself in comic misunderstandings. Whether due to his Yakuza look or a reunion with former companions or rivals of crime, the end of the sketch is usually not what we might expect. It is really nice to see the transition between two very opposite worlds as well as the new priorities of our main character. Indeed, several "flashbacks" are shown to us when there is a misunderstanding about Tatsu's actions or thoughts. And when reality appears to us, it is impossible to remain marble. Even if you do not have an easy laugh, a rictus will appear, we guarantee it. In addition, Tatsu seems to put a lot of energy into performing the tasks of everyday life. Whether cooking, cleaning or even shopping, he is always at his best to carry out the missions that fall to him. And we must admit that it could also motivate us to do the same at home. Having so much enthusiasm for this kind of work makes us admire. And although the characters are the same, the sketches are still different. Indeed, no scene is like another and it is not to displease us. However, there doesn't seem to be any guideline for the script, it's just small scenes put end to end.

A significant opposition!

The Way of the Apron In addition, it turns out that Tatsu is a generous man since he is not stingy on advice. Indeed, even with these former rivals, Tatsu gives them techniques in order to perfect themselves. And this as well in the kitchen, to do their shopping or simply to help them improve their lives. This generosity makes it possible to break this image of bloodthirsty tough guy that seems to stick to his skin. In addition, the relationship he has with his wife and his in-laws is also comical. Miku, Tatsu's wife, sometimes looks more like a demon than her husband. This reversal of roles adds a little more comedy in a series that does not lack it. We also find a "kawai" side that does not fail to seduce us. Indeed, the opposition between the opening and the atmosphere of the anime is also very appreciable. The opening, "Shufu no Michi", directed by Uchikubi Gokumon Doukoukai, has a very catchy rock side that does not fail to wake up the most sleepy among us. Its tone is very different from some scenes in the anime. These, which we can call "cute", contradict the "Yakuza" side of Tatsu. And this is also the case for most of the former yakuza who appear in the series. They all have a tender side that never ceases to surprise us. Finally, on the animation side, although it "disturbed" us in the first part, we got used to it quite quickly. It was therefore not difficult to appreciate this second part since we knew what to expect. And as we stated in our first article, the animation is well tuned with the scenario. And you, what do you think of this Netflix original series? Did you manage to get used to this animation a little different from the one we are used to?
