An alternative to Mario Kart?
Like many people, we wondered if Team Sonic Racing was a copy/paste of Mario Kart. Well, no, despite many similarities, the game is still different. The only real resemblance between the two being the fact that they are two car games. And that's pretty much it. Indeed, unlike Mario Kart, Sonic's goal is, as usual, to stop Eggman. And for that, we will have to learn more about his Machiavellian plans through various races. In addition, everything is done as a team! In teams of 3, win races that are always more difficult than each other. Traps of all kinds, tortuous terrain, opponents ready to do anything to win,… These races will not be health walks! But rest assured, you can also enjoy various and varied bonuses, exchanges of objects with your teammates or turbo. Thanks to teamwork, you can even enjoy a super acceleration that will propel you to first place! You can also customize your vehicles according to your tastes and according to the desired performance. Indeed, thanks to the modification capsules, you can recover pieces of equipment to boost all the characters of the game. Whether you prefer to play with Sonic, Amy or Shadow, everything is possible during the races.
A successful game?
Regarding the races, in order to avoid that they are too redundant, different kinds of races are available. Simple races, tournaments, mini solo games, … And the objectives to be achieved are also multiple. The main objective is still to finish first. However, other rewards can be awarded if the entire team finishes first, if a certain number of rings is recovered, … and so on. In addition, the more you arrive at the end of the races, the more obstacles will be on your way. On the graphic side, everything is in order! Indeed, they are well suited to a game of this genre. They're not worth games like Ghost of Tsushima or Elden Ring, but that's not the goal either. There is no point in having graphics of this kind for a racing game like Team Sonic Racing. Finally, the gameplay is also good. We find about the same keys as on Mario Kart, such as the ability to have acceleration after skidding in corners for example.
And to play online?
The big weak point of Team Sonic Racing is the online game. Indeed, you will have very little chance of finding a game with other players. The team search system is quite poorly thought out and you can wait long hours in front of your console waiting for someone to join your game. However, all is not lost. All you have to do is motivate your friends to play a little game with you. In addition to combining the pleasure of playing with your friends, they will also allow you to access trophies related to online gambling. Will you be able to be the strongest? It's up to you to prove it to them! Team Sonic Racing does not revolutionize racing games, but still allows you to have a great time alone or with friends.
