François Staal is back with Minuit, a new black and white clip evoking the night and alcohol. In this new album, a dozen unpublished texts, including one of his friend Pierre-Yves Lebert, are combined with the cover of two monuments of French song, La nuit je mens (Alain Bashung) and Avec le temps (Léo Ferré)… and a poem by Charles Baudelaire. The culmination of an evolution that began ten years ago, L'humaine beauté crowns a research on sounds and the French language, mixing guitars and drum rocks with symphonic strings. A music, a fraternal, loving writing, which testifies to the need to fight for the values of humanism and the defense of the environment. In the vein of text rockers, François Staal cultivates a universe of rock song, French, storms or melodies, off the beaten track and in touch with the contemporary, a universe close to that of Nick Cave, Bashung or Manset with reminiscences of Pink Floyd or Dominique A.
