Hero Skill – Online Shopping (Tondemo Skill by Isekai Hourou Meshi) is an anime produced by MAPPA studio (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man) available on Crunchyroll since January 10, 2023 ! The anime will have 12 episodes of 24 minutes. This series is adapted from the eponymous manga by Eguchi Ren, Akagishi K and Masa. The series is ongoing and has 8 volumes published by Delcourt/Tonkam.
The story takes you into the daily life of Mukôda Tsuyoshi, a 27-year-old man. One day, he finds himself mysteriously summoned to another world. Three high school students are also with him. However, these three young men are heroes and they possess skills worthy of great warriors. Mukûda, on the other hand, is not so lucky. Indeed, its power is "online shopping", nothing exceptional for the great leaders of this new country. He will quickly leave the castle to live his own adventure!
An interesting scenario
Unlike many anime that would have plunged us into a fantasy world filled with combat, heroes of all kinds and magic, Hero Skill – Online Shopping takes us into a very different universe. Indeed, Mukûda has no fighting ability. We follow him in his daily life as a street vendor. Indeed, although its power is of no use in a fight, it is no less practical. Mukûda therefore has the ability to order products on the internet. Food, modern equipment, everything is possible as long as he has enough money. In addition, our main character also happens to be a fine cook. For this ability, he will quickly be noticed. And not by just anyone… Indeed, following an expedition with a group of adventurers whose mission is to protect him when he wishes to go to a neighboring country, Mukûda meets a fenrir, a giant wolf, protected by a goddess. The latter will very quickly make a pact with Mukûda! But why will you ask? Why would a legendary animal want to become the familiar of an average character? Well, imagine that our fenrir is a goulu who has only one desire, to eat the delicious dishes prepared by Mukûda! So here we go on a culinary adventure! And we must admit that this is very satisfying. So here we are immersed in an "RPG" where the goal is not to fight but to cook. However, new opportunities will soon present themselves to Mukūda, which will evolve rapidly. But we will not tell you more, so as not to spoil the surprise.
Sympathetic characters
The character of Mukûda is not exceptional in itself. He is not a formidable warrior, he does not exude an evil aura, he does not have an impressive build… But that's also what makes him sympathetic! Indeed, it looks like a standard "NPC". It is this simple and light side that makes its discovery even more attractive. In addition, the addition of a legendary animal is also very attractive! Indeed, Fel, the fenrir who has become a familiar, exudes incredible strength. Several legends report destruction related to his legendary animals. Our duo is therefore very quickly noticed, wherever it goes. The inhabitants are suspicious, worried. What damage will they do in their path? However, no disaster has occurred yet, it may come in the sequel to the anime. And although our fenrir is only with Mukûda to fill his belly, a complicity will very quickly appear, for our greatest pleasure. For good reason, several funny situations will appear, which will make the story even lighter and more fun than it already is. Hero Skill – Online shopping is therefore a novelty that we really appreciated. The scenario is interesting, the characters endearing, … We can't wait to discover the rest of the adventures of Mukûda and Fel.
