The game Hogwarts Legacy has been talked about a lot both before its release, and once available on several platforms. And for good reason, this game is considered by many as a real nugget. After just two weeks, Hogwarts Legacy sold 12 million copies, grossing $850 million. But is this success deserved?
Hogwarts Legacy
As you may have seen or heard about, Hogwarts Legacy is inspired by the successful Harry Potter saga. But unlike the many games already existing, you will not play as your favorite wizards. Indeed, this story takes place in the 1800s, long before anything you have ever known.But rest assured, everything will not be unknown to you. Indeed, you will discover the castle of Hogwarts and its surroundings, including the discovery of Hogwarts, a village very appreciated by fans of the saga. You will play as a student integrating the school in the 5th year. You will have the ability to wield ancient magic, as well as its share of trials. You will have two choices, protect this secret and preserve the world from magic, or give in to the temptation of this very great power… What are you going to do? Currently, the game is only available on PC, PS5 , and Xbox Series. It will be necessary to wait until April 04 , 2023 for PS4 and Xbox One players and July 25, 2023 for Switch players.
A rich universe
Hogwarts Legacy has a very rich universe, starting with its map. Indeed, the game has a very large open map, really very big. In addition to discovering the Hogwarts school, you can walk through the Forbidden Forest, the different villages around the school as well as emblematic places from the original series. Have you ever dreamed of discovering the different common rooms? Or the famous kitchens of the castle? Or Hagrid's hut? Not to mention the screaming hut. And that's not all! There are so many places to discover that just exploring the map will take you hours. And the more you advance in the different quests, the more new places will be accessible to you. Indeed, like all games, Hogwarts Legacy has a main quest and many side quests. To advance in the story, you will have to realize both the main and the secondary. These will bring you rewards of all kinds, spells, outfits, objects of various customizations, … Many challenges will also be proposed. They are all different from each other. You can discover broom races, Merlin's challenges, battle arenas and much more! You will also have to collect the missing pages of the wizard's guide. These will be available in several ways. For example, you can use the "Revelio" spell (which you will use countless times during your games). You will also have to solve the challenges of the mirrors, or use the spell "Accio" to catch them. There are many other ways to recover them, but we let you discover this for yourself. On the customization side, again, you will have a lot of choices. Whether you want to dress your character, customize your wand, or redecorate the room on request, the options are gigantic.
An interesting scenario
As explained in the synopsis, you play as a student entering the school in the 5th year. You will therefore have the right to catch-up courses to catch up. By attending the different classes and completing your homework, you will be able to enlarge your spell wheel. And it is thanks to this wide panel that you will be able to defeat your many enemies and advance in the main quest. The choices you make will affect the rest of the story, including the ability to learn the three unforgivable spells: the Imperium Spell, the Doloris Spell, and the Death Spell. No matter which house you choose, you will have the opportunity to learn them. In addition to many spells available, you will also be able to manipulate ancient magic. The latter will allow you to deliver powerful blows to your opponents. Several challenges will be available to increase this capacity. In addition, the possibility of choosing between good and evil makes the story all the more interesting. Discovering the world of Harry Potter in a new light was already very pleasant, but choosing which wizard we can become adds even more spice! However, it must be admitted that the scenario sometimes lacks rhythm. Indeed, quests or challenges can quickly become repetitive and make the story "tiresome". For example, there are 95 Merlin challenges. You guessed it, there are not 95 different exercises. The solutions will quickly be the same.
A magical discovery
Discovering Hogwarts Legacy was still a real pleasure. Whether or not you are a fan of the magical universe of Harry Potter, you should be able to find what you are looking for. Indeed, as we explained above, not all coins are available from the beginning of the game. Some will only be accessible to you after learning the "Alohomora" spell. Depending on whether you prefer to take your time to explore the surroundings, or if you prefer to advance in your quests, it will still take you several hours before you can explore the entire castle. In addition, you will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with magical creatures. It was a real pleasure to find creatures such as hipogriffs, sombrals or the Phoenix. You will also find creatures appearing in Fantastic Beasts. Finally, we haven't touched on the game's graphics yet. And again, it's a success! Indeed, whether it is the sets or the different action scenes, everything is very well done. You will take a lot of pleasure to discover this universe as well on foot, on your broom or on the back of a hippogriff. Hogwarts Legacy is therefore an excellent game that we strongly invite you to discover! Although some possibilities are not available, such as Quidditch for example or multiplayer mode, it is still a very good single player game. It will take you dozens of hours to be able to finish it and even more if you want to finish it 100% and get the platinum.
