After a 12th volume that chained the revelations, the 13th volume of Shy was expected at the turn. The author laid the foundations for a new status quo and imposed new physical and emotional challenges on our heroes. This opus meets all expectations, linking as much moments of bravery as new intriguing revelations.
Join Shy
Stigma has implemented its new plan: emotional frenzy. Around the world, adults are gripped by emotional turmoil: eternal fear, infinite kindness, nameless laziness. Losing all control over their hearts, they fall back to childhood age, resulting in absolute chaos. For the heroes, the challenge is colossal because it is necessary to restore civil peace without hurting these manipulated innocents. At the same time, Shy is still investigating her sister's disappearance and contacts The Shining Six, heroes who knew her well. The answers she hopes to find depend on victory over Stigma and her minions. But faced with the urgency of the threat, Century hero of the United States and Larc Materia Renoir, hero of the France, make their way to the mysterious island where the members of Amalarilk and their leader Stigma are lurking. A violent confrontation breaks out.
Shy : what if we reformatted the world
The plan sketched by Stigma in the previous volume is finally applied. It is a "disevolution" that the adversary of our heroes aims to achieve by making adults, guilty of all disasters, fall back into childhood. The author of Shy once again has an overflowing imagination to make us feel all the ambiguity and unhealthy charm of Stigma. Each of his actions is ostensibly motivated by a noble cause. By freeing our child's soul, adults will remove the chains that enclose their hearts. The philosophy of the antagonist is cleverly brought, accentuated by his adolescent aspect and the youth of his minions. But as already suggested in Volume 12, Stigma locks up by promising paradise. His corruption of souls is absolute and beware of those who would like to escape his embrace.
We must kill the sister
The 12th volume ended with a shattering revelation. Shy's sister Shine did not die and reportedly gave birth to Stigma. This unexpected twist accompanied by the explanation of the word Amalarilk leads Shy to embark on a vengeful quest. But not to destroy her sister but to bring her back to the light. Shy then grows in this volume. The one who was a leader of circumstance becomes the one who must unite the heroes, plunge even more into the past, even if it means finding inconvenient truths. Indeed, this 13th opus confirms a latent impression since the beginning of the series. Many mysteries surround the lives of heroes. And it is time to lift the veil on their real life at the risk of further upsetting the universe.
Shy : comics at the service of a clash of titans
This 13th volume contrasts with the previous one by its action dimension. Indeed, its entire second part presents an epic fight between two of our heroes and Angèle Alleluia. As in the most beautiful moments of Saint Seiya, present and past merge. Physical strength but also spirit are summoned to triumph over the opponent. Moreover, the character of Angela, with almost divine purity, is very reminiscent of the golden knight of the Virgin. To confront him is to question one's faith. This epic dimension is reinforced by the very successful nods to the universe of the Comics. Century for example is inspired by superman, green lantern and hawkeye (for his family). The Shining Six evoke by name, the Sinister Six of Spider Man and by their look, the X Men. As for the super-villain Louise Lavipère, it is on the side of the skrulls that the author went to seek inspiration. All these borrowings fit beautifully into the narrative and highlight the immense work of synthesis of the author. The 13th volume of Shy is devoured in one go. It is again a superb work of its author who is building a reference work. Find here our reviews of the previous installments of the series.
